Jesus said:  “Those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty…   (It) will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.”  John 14:4 (NRSV)

Come experience the presence of God in he serenity of our oaks, butterfly garden, cemetary, meditative path and our historic building.  We believe that with offering a beautiful, quiet, peaceful, prayerful space apart we can help people around us to slow down, take a deep breath and develop a relationship with God.

Because we love the word of God and have been nurtured in our study of it,  because we love God and have been fed and filled with a love that passes all understanding, and because there is no way we can keep all this to ourselves we want to open up our doors to provide quiet time for others who wish to experience God anew and refresh their spirits.  Come and join us.

Our Mission statement:

The Retreat Center at Silverbrook United Methodist Church offers quiet days for adults to reflect, be still, and find rest away from the stressful world as they seek to deepen their relationship with God.

Why come on a spiritual retreat?  In order to grow in love with God and spend time with God, who loves you very much.  It is aside some unhurried time to dive down deep into the word of God.  This time apart with other Christians will help you to answer some questions and maybe cause you to ask some more questions but it will definitely help you to know more about God and yourself.

On the Second Saturday  of each month we are offering a Retreat Day (RD) from 10 am until 4 pm.  These types of retreats will have more teaching and group interaction.  The format would have some opening worship time, gathering for private reflection, gathering in small groups to debrief that reflection, gathering as a larger group for discussion.   After lunch that more alone time, small group time, and all gathered as one and then close with worship and communion.  The format will change depending on the topic.  Topics will be announced in advance via the website:  www.silverbrook-umc.org.   This will be open to the first 12 registrants.  Pre-registration and payment is required 1 week prior to the retreat date.   Please sign up early by emailing Pastor Kim at Pastor@Silverbrook-umc.org or by calling the church (703.690.4159).  The suggested donation is $40 which includes lunch.

On the fourth Friday of each month we are offering a Quiet Day Retreat (QDR) from 10 am to 2 pm.  This time opens with registration and worship.  Each participant would have solitary time to ponder our scripture and topic for the day.   Participants will then gather for lunch and a time of group reflection.  And then after lunch participants would have some more time alone to journal or pray or do another worksheet or artwork, etc.  We would then close the day with worship and communion.  Topics will be announced in advance via the website:  www.silverbrook-umc.org.   This will be open to the first five registrants. Pre-registration and payment is required 1 week prior to the retreat date.   Please sign up early by emailing Pastor Kim at   Pastor@Silverbrook-umc.org or by calling the church (703.690.4159).  The suggested donation is $25 which includes lunch.
