Return to church is paused. We will resume Return to Church at a later date
As we move toward "Return to Church" services, we follow guidance set forth by the Virginia Conference and the Alexandria District. We know that we are all in community with one another and will share in our commitments to each other to keep everyone safe and healthy. Beginning in October, we will offer a hybrid service format - online and limited in person - the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Due to the requirements to maintain 6-feet of social distancing, SUMC requires advance registration and the completion of a Health Acknowledgement Form (HAF).
Pre-Registration - complete by Wednesday before the Sunday Service you wish to attend
- Complete a pew reservation
- Complete the HAF
If you are unable to complete the pew reservation or the HAF online, please contact us here and be prepared to answer the questions on the HAF.
You can also download and print out the HAF to bring with you. It is located on the Conference site located here. Please return completed form by email to SUMC on the Wednesday before you plan to attend the service. Persons who have 2 or more of the listed symptoms or who have been in contact with anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days cannot attend in person at this time and are encouraged to join us online via WebEx or Facebook Live.
Requirements to attend in person service
-Masks must be worn at all times on church property, including the parking lot and restrooms
-6-feet social distancing must be maintained at all times, including the parking lot
-Please park in every other parking space
-A family group is defined as a group of up to 4 persons sharing the same household for more than 2 consecutive weeks
-The Health Acknowledgement Form must be completed and SUMC will protect your data. We will only use your data from the HAF to comply with contact tracing requirements as determined by Conference, District, and State/Local Health Officials
What to expect
Since this is a hybrid service we will maintain elements of worship in a different way. After you are greeted outside, you may proceed to our internal greeter who will verify the completion of the HAF. Our greeter will show you where you can drop off your offering and the location of your seat for the service. Sit back and enjoy the service. Although you will not be able to participate in singing, you can enjoy our virtual choir, The Silverbrook Singers. The service will be guided by projection in the sanctuary as no paper bulletins will be provided. As much as we would love to host everyone after the service, unfortunately due to COVID, socially distanced fellowship outside on church grounds is the only place we can gather to chat, always maintaining social distancing.
-We will not be able to support a nursery
-The sanctuary could be chilly as we will try to limit HVAC operations during service
-Bring your own hand sanitizers and Bibles
We are certain that all who join will work with us to comply with the requirements and look forward to seeing you!
